Designing with Web Standards
Redman Design is committed to building websites using web standards, ensuring validation
to W3C criteria and compliance to
WAI guidelines for accessibility. It is no longer
acceptable to develop websites with the emphasis purely on looks; they must look good and perform in a manner
that is consistent across a range of operating systems and web browser software.
Building Websites for the Future
Modern web browsers display standards compliant code in a uniform manner. This means the website can be
developed without the need to concentrate on specific code for individual browsers, or the worry of
error-correction (which is usually the reason for inconsistencies between one browser and another).
Web standards compliant websites are guaranteed to perform as intended in future versions of web browser
software. Redman Design recommends Mozilla Firefox.
Accessibility
Developing to web standards ensures a wider audience can access your website. As well as ensuring your
website adheres to all priority 1, 2 & 3 Web Content Accessibility Guidlines, Redman Design incorporates
features like shortcut keys, black and white text only versions and the ability to change text size
on-screen. In addition, your website is tested on a range of web browsers including Lynx (a text only web browser).
